Coping with illness

When someone becomes ill their thoughts, feelings, concerns, preoccupations and worries change dramatically.

A serious physical illness can affect every area of your life:

  • relationships
  • work
  • spiritual beliefs
  • how we socialise with other people.

You may be diagnosed with a terminal illness and worry how you and your family are going to cope.  Sometimes it can be difficult to talk about the illness with those close to you as you do not want to worry or upset them. You may be depressed or anxious, feel out of control, lonely and isolated.

You may need support to go through all the different phases of your illness.

You may need to make certain decisions over your treatment and would like to talk to someone to help you work out what would be best for you.
